During the Revolutionary War, Lt. Colonel Marinus Willett fought in many engagements against the British across New York State. He was particularly noted for his courage in battle, and on many occasions led forces directly against enemy soldiers and won. He acheived the rank of Colonel by the end of the war. |
|
After the War, Marinus Willettwas a director of the Western Inland Lock and Navigation Company so he stayed active in Rome after the war. Later, he took up public life and became Mayor of New York City.

| Marinus Willett is buried in Trinity Churchyard in New York City, not far from the grave of Alexander Hamilton. Sadly, his grave marker is in poor repair. | |
