Artifacts

Artifacts are objects found at an archeological site that were made or modified by people. They include everything from stone tools to pottery to food remains. Finding out what artifacts people were using at a specific time tells us a lot about what their lives were like.

Pottery or Ceramics

Pottery, china, and ceramics all mean roughly the same thing, which are items made from fired clay. Ceramics covers all the things an archeologist could find, from dinner plates to electrical insulators. See more about pottery

Glass

Glass breaks very easily and gets thrown away, which means that the archeologists get to find it. Glass items were used on the table, such as drinking cups., and glass was also used for bottles. For some bottles, you can tell what was in them in the past by their shape or by lettering on the bottle itself. See more about glass

Food Remains

Archeologists like to find bones and seeds because it tells alot about what people's life was like. Bones are found on many sites, which tells the archeologist what kind of meat people were eating. Other things, such as shells and seeds, can tell archeologists even more. See more about food
